Art Circle

As a branch of the Worship Council, the Arts Circle Apostle Group was created by and for people who share an interest in the visual arts (painting, sculpture, photography, calligraphy, stained glass, etc.)

We have enjoyed a variety of programs, including members showing examples of their original artwork, demonstrations of talent, and sharing experiences from attending workshops.  We have assisted in designing logos, designing banners, and making decorating choices during our church’s remodeling  We sponsor several tours a year to art galleries, exhibitions and workshops.  Our church walls are filled with artwork by our Arts Circle members and artists outside of PCA.

We invite anyone interested in the arts and discovering ways to assist with the PCA worship experience, to share our breakfasts.  Please contact Karen Eighmy if you have any questions.

Dennis Chick Exhibit – April 2012

“I was first introduced to photography through my parentsʼ 8mm family films and photographs in the 1950ʼs.  I have now been shooting photos for more than 20 years – progressing from film cameras to digital, “point and shoot” to SLR.  Iʼm continually learning the many different aspects of photography – including composition, editing, and printing – and I enjoy studying the portfolios of photographers of all levels – who inspire me to become better in my work.

My love for the north woods of Minnesota has led me to try to capture in pictures – the beauty of nature for others to enjoy.  I attempt to show life “in motion,” hoping to evoke emotion and awareness of the world around us.  More recently, I have been fortunate to have been a part of several medical and humanitarian trips overseas–this has given me the opportunity to photograph both teams in action and people of other cultures in their daily routines.  Locally, my collection of work continues to expand with the many events, ceremonies, and portraits I capture.

My hope is to make a positive difference in the world both by assisting members on humanitarian missions and by donating a share of the profits from my photo sales to their efforts.  I believe that each of us has God-given talents, and I am thankful to have been given opportunities to use my passion for photography to help others.”  For more information on Dennis Chick, please visit his website at www.dennischick.com

Previous Art Exhibit:  Joan Rood’s Artwork At PCA in November 2011!

The Arts Circle is pleased to announce that Joan Rood, a long time member of Church of the Apostles, will exhibit her work in our gallery during the months of November and December.

Joan’s passion for photography began over thirty years ago when her husband gave her a 35mm camera.  That gift inspired her to “view her surroundings with much different eyes” – from recording special moments with loved ones to capturing wonders of nature near home and while traveling.

Joan has lent her talents over the years photographing people and events at PCA as well as taking part in several shows here with other member artists.

This will be her second solo show; her first was at Fairview Ridges Hospital in Burnsville in August, 2011.
