- Hosting a presentation by Will Steger on Global Warming
- Selling energy-saving compact fluorescent lights (CFLs).
- Regularly picking up litter at Chateaulin Park in Burnsville under the “Adopt a Park” program.
- Sponsoring education efforts to reduce junk mail and encourage carpooling/biking to work.
- Helping to remove invasive species from a prairie restoration area along the Mississippi River.
- Providing recycling service for our church, to those with no curbside service.
- Taking part in the “Big River Cleanup” on the Mississippi.
- Holding annual Earth Day events.
- Collecting wildflower seeds to help reestablish native plants.
- Creating a butterfly garden on the church grounds.
- Promoting awareness of local recycling/reusing opportunities such as “Soles for Soles” shoe collection, electronics and holiday lights recycling, and garden pot collection.
- Promoting multiple use bags, composting and rain barrels.
We have been certified as an Earth Congregation by the Presbyterian Church (USA) Environmental Ministries, and have been since December 9, 2010. This honor speaks to the great commitment that our church has to caring for God’s earth.
